Special Education in Holguín is committed to projects aimed to promote learning and allow the proactive insertion into society of children with intellectual, sensory and physical-motor disabilities.
As part of the Third Improvement of Education and with the support of families and the community, the province has expanded programs that promote social inclusion, self-validity of students, continuity of studies and entry into working life, said Yamila Torres Suárez, methodologist of the Special Education department in the General Directorate of the sector.
According to the peculiarities of each student, the contents are adapted and incorporated into the Circles of Interest program with varied themes such as vocational training, care for the environment and the beautification of cities, with the support of various entities in the territory, she noted.
Torres Suárez commented that the municipalities of Gibara, Rafael Freyre and Banes work together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the coasts cleaning and have joined initiatives such as the ECOARTE program, of Moa, which promotes artistic manifestations based on environmental protection.
She added that these activities stimulate the cognitive development of students and in some cases allow their incorporation into regular education or, starting in the fourth cycle, entry as workers in any economic form, whether state or private.
Special Education in Holguín serves more than three thousand children in 26 educational centers, of which around a thousand are in a situation of inclusion, to whom differentiated treatment is provided in order to achieve the well-being and harmony that each one deserves. (Source: ACN)
