Holguín University of Medical Sciences recognized on its 15th anniversary

With the pride of having trained thousands of health professionals from the province and other nations, the University of Medical Sciences of Holguín (UCMHo) celebrated its 15th anniversary, with the well-deserved recognition of this distinguished institution.
At the political-cultural gala, held on Wednesday, a group of teachers received the 15th Anniversary Distinction for their contribution to the development of the University.
During the ceremony, the distinction was also awarded to key institutions for the training of future doctors, nursing staff, technologists and other specialties, such as the three provincial hospitals, the Fermín Valdés Domínguez military hospital, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences Mariana Grajales Coello, which since its creation has graduated more than 32 thousand young people, including more than 2 thousand from sister nations.
A significant moment was the tribute paid by various organizations to the UCMHo, whose rector, Dr. Galina Galcerán Chacó, received the recognitions with the commitment to continue assuming the challenges to provide young people with a better comprehensive preparation for the good of health and people’s life.
The ceremony also served to award the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias (Cirah), for its results in the search for therapies and treatments that affect the quality of life of patients, as well as the UCMHo, a certified institution and deserving of important awards and recognitions, also for its contribution to the preparation of professionals in the sector.
