Moa University and FORMER project to hold international event

The 11th International Conference on the Use of Mineral Resources “CINAREM'24” of the University of Moa and the III International Symposium on Gender and Renewable Energies, by the FORMER project, will take place from April 10 to 12 with a unique program and Canada as guest country of honor.


The joint event aims to promote scientific, technological and innovation advances in different areas, exchange experiences, involve new generations in various fields of knowledge, and to create a network of colleagues and graduates of the University.

The meeting will include keynote conferences, panels, round tables, posters and exhibition fairs and will be held at the Club Amigos hotel in the Guardalavaca resort.

The International Seminar on Metallurgy and Materials will address topics such as the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Materials Science, Critical Minerals, The role of lithium in the energy transition, Sustainable management, Advances in physical metallurgy, Innovations in advanced materials, among others.

The International Electromechanics Workshop will have among its main topics the Dualization of green hydrogen, Nanotechnology in energy efficiency, Collaborative robotics, Big data analysis and cloud platform in industrial processes, Renewable energy sources and energy transition.

On the other hand, the Mining Communities Workshop will develop topics such as the economic empowerment of women in mining communities, gender awareness and education, sustainable development, communication strategies in the mining industry, technological innovations, creation of social value and environmental resilience.

Based on topics such as Sustainable city design and environmental education, Green energies, Impact of smart technical networks on environmental sustainability, Management for the conservation of georesources, Mining, environment, legislation and environmental economics, it will take place the International Workshop on protection of the environment and georesources.

While the International Geology and Mining workshop will provide new insights into the Integration of the gender perspective in geology and renewable energies, Critical minerals and global energy transitions, Geoscience and discoveries, Use of drones in mining operations, Water resources, Management of risks and disasters and Geotourism.

Professors, students, researchers, professionals and businessmen from the national and international community will present their works during the meetings.

The event program includes accreditation, documentation and the book of abstracts, in addition to participation in all scientific activities, and the delivery of certificates to participants.


According to the topics addressed, the works may be published in the Moa University Digital Publishing House, according to the standards of each accredited journal.

FORMER's contributions are already evident in several social institutions and educational centers in Moa and the provincial capital, being an alliance that contributes to the necessary energy transformation of Cuba with the leadership of women.
