Residents in the city of Holguín joined a massive march on Saturday in solidarity with the Palestinian cause in the face of the massacre they have been experiencing due to the Israel-Palestine conflict, which has been ongoing for over 75 years.

Tareq Toame, a doctor specializing in Ophthalmology at the province's University of Medical Sciences, denounced the cruel crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, events that claim the lives of thousands of people, regardless of age, sex or religion.

Toame expressed that the infants who have been born since the beginning of the conflict grow up aware of their state of being invaded and intervened due to Zionism while the world remains silent and observes without getting involved, for which he thanked Cuba for its constant support to his homeland.

People of all ages participated in the march along with students of that nationality who are studying university degrees in the territory.

Yaiselín González Méndez, delegate to the XI Congress of the Federation of Cuban Women, explained that the occupation of Palestinian territories by their Jewish neighbors is, according to the International Law, illegal and unjustified and it is the duty of everyone to oppose such a crime that massacres even to the most vulnerable.

In the solidarity act, those present dedicated a solemn minute of silence for the more than 25 thousand people who have been killed, only since the escalation of the war on October 7 of last year, of which the majority are civilians.

The march was led by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province; Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín, members of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, among other political, mass and government authorities.

The Palestinian-Israeli social and armed conflict, declared in 1948, is considered one of the most extensive and inhumane in history and its genocidal characteristic transcends the borders of the Middle East to establish itself as a global problem.
