The Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) in the eastern province of Holguín recorded positive results at the end of December, in accordance with established projections.


Darquiris Sánchez Castro, head of the Commercial Department of the Territorial Division, said that this year 462 basic telephone services were installed throughout the province, concentrated mainly in the municipality of Antilla, which is experiencing notable development in communications.

Connectivity reached 121 new People’s Councils and more than 11 thousand mobile lines were sold, which brought an increase in telephone density in the territory, which has historically been positioned as one of the key ones in the country.

Etecsa has advanced in terms of electronic commerce, mainly with the Transfermovil payment gateway. 92 percent of the income today circulates through that means while 58 percent of the clients pay the telephone bill by electronic payment.

The entity has installed more than 30 business services related to electronic commerce, from which new economic actors also benefit.

In a period marked by the energy contingency, they have improved support for the main nodes with the aim to guarantee their operation if in the areas where they are located, the electricity service is interrupted. Vulnerabilities to the communications systems were reduced. In that sense, the Company is working to conclude the installation of the Gibara fiber optics.

Etecsa is has favorable indicators in uninterrupted telephone assistance services, requested by more than 97 percent of its clients, which demonstrates confidence in the company's support for the optimal development of communications.
