Holguín will develop the day "Leer la historia" (Read History), dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, with the aim to promote the teaching of this subject, one of the strategies of the educational system on the Island.
Keynote lectures, book presentations, debates and visits to museums, are among the activities planned to foster knowledge about local traditions in the eastern territory, the third most densely populated in Cuba.
This program, organized by the Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC), has among its objectives to encourage values in adolescents and young people and promote the texts published in La Mezquita, told ACN Hiram Pérez Concepción, president of the Holguín branch of this organization.
He pointed out that the program also includes the exhibition of aboriginal utensils, belongings of the heroes and martyrs of the wars for Cuban independence from 1968 to 1898, among other objects of great value and antiquity, at La Periquera Provincial Museum of History in this city.
"Reading history" also has among its headquarters the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library and the Calixto García Park, one of the main cultural squares of the eastern city.
Holguín has a wide network of museums, institutions and historical sites, which develop actions throughout the year aimed at preserving traditions, linked to new generations.
