National Food Education Workshop held in Holguín

The National Food and Nutrition Education Workshop (EAN) was held in the province of Holguín with the aim to strengthen the capacities of key actors associated with the implementation of projects to promote healthy and sustainable diet.
The event, which took place at the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach, in the Guardalavaca resort, promoted the debate on initiatives such as “Educación Escolar Sostenible: Sembrando Futuro (AES +)", " !Actúa Diferente!", and "Gibara Verde x Ciento", implemented by the World Food Program (WFP) in several provinces of the country.
The conferences given addressed several strategies for the effective implementation of these programs and their application from educational centers to food production aimed at key population groups, Ruber Peña Fleita, representative of ¡Actúa diferente! told ACN.
Peña Fleita highlighted among the issues addressed the importance of rapprochement between productive actors and the vulnerable population through social protection networks stands out, ties that benefit all those involved in the aforementioned plans.
The workshop, sponsored by the WFP and the ministries of Education and Public Health, had the participation of the coordinators of each program, representatives of the five eastern provinces, as well as medical personnel responsible for the actions in the territories of Cueto, Mayarí, Gibara and Urbano Noris, which benefit from these projects.
