Holguín hosts Havanatur's MegaFam 2023

With the aim to promote the eastern Cuban region, specifically the Holguín destination, this territory of eastern Cuba hosts the Havanatur SA's MegaFam 2023, which from September 22 to 30 brings together some 400 travel agents from nearly 20 countries.
The event takes place within the framework of the activities for the 45th Anniversary of this International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies, a leader in the promotion and marketing of Cuban tourism products, and the International Tourism Day, on September 27.
In a press conference, Yoelkis Salazar, general director of Havanatur SA, said that traditionally the MegaFams had been held in the western region, with central activity in Varadero , but this year they bet for the East due to the strategic connection from the point of view of airlines and for all types of tourism coming together in this destination.
He highlighted circuit tourism, which is strength of the country and not present in other Caribbean nations. “With such aggressive competition after the COVID-19 pandemic, we must reinforce its strengths as a destination, which is one of the main ones.”
Salazar recognized that the eastern area is renovated, with an important hotel plant modernized to international standards, which will benefit this innovative product that will be presented during the celebration of its 45th Anniversary, to be celebrated on December 19 under the slogan “Dare to Live it, Cuba awaits you.”
After recognizing that the current moments are complex for the world and, in particular, for Cuba, Salazar said that it has been considered that “Tourism is the savior of the economy of our country and of many others in the Caribbean, that is why we continue to support this activity, hence the decision to continue promoting these types of events, in order to promote and market the destination."
Among the countries participating in this event are Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, France, Spain, Russia, Germany, England and Italy, which have visited, among other places of interest, Baracoa, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Camagüey and Holguín, where they have completed an extensive program of excursions to emblematic cities and sites such as Gibara, Loma de la Cruz, Cayo Saetía, El Ramón de Antilla, Guardalavaca and the Aldea Taína.
The Brisas Guardalavaca hotel, MegaFam's main headquarters, will host the central activity of the event on September 27 with the attendance of all participants, who will have the opportunity to enjoy the Cuban duo Buena Fe and the popular group Wil Campa and La Gran Unión.
