International Day of Peace Celebrated in Holguín

The "Tents for Peace", with the participation of students from primary and secondary schools in the city of Holguín, stand out among the initiatives of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP) to celebrate the International Day of Peace on September 21.
During the event, students from this eastern Cuban city developed various cultural activities in which they advocated for a world without wars or conflicts.
Yamila Fernández Domínguez, an official of the entity in the province, informed ACN that the initiative is carried out with the objective of promoting through culture the participation of new generations as positive agents in the construction of a better society, by joining these celebrations.
The event takes place under the slogan "Actions for peace: our ambition for the Global Goals", since 2023 marks the halfway point of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
activities coincide with the SDG summit, which took place on September 18 and 19, and also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Fernández added.
Established by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly 42 years ago, the International Day of Peace aims to strengthen the ideals of peace in each nation by respecting 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire.
