The new 2023-2024 school year opened its doors this September 4 to more than 143,000 students in the northeastern province of Holguín, with the assistance of more than 37,000 education workers.
Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, general director of Education in the province, underlined the efforts of the country to develop the new school stage in the midst of the economic crisis, with the guarantee of the preparation of executives and teachers, the school materials for each of the students and the repair of a group of educational institutions that provide greater comfort for the development of the teaching-learning process.
In this sense, he pointed out that the province currently has 1,300 educational institutions, 90 percent of which have favorable conditions, an aspect that has improved in the province, since five years ago its school network was one of the most deteriorated in the country.
For this school year, he said, the Cuban school has as essential tasks to study and deepen the knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, the implementation of its laws, especially the Symbols Law, the application of science and innovation to the improvement of the processes, the formative work and attention to the teacher.
“The training of the new generations requires a greater commitment from the Holguín teachers and a permanent accompaniment of the entire society," he concluded.
