After 35 years since the last opening of a children day care centre in the city of Holguín, two new ones will be inaugurated on September 4, the start date of the 2023-2024 school year.

Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, general director of Education in the territory, informed the ACN that these educational centers are located in the IPVCE José Martí Pérez and General Calixto García educational complexes, respectively.

Both centers have all the necessary rooms to cover admission from the second to the sixth year of life and have an approximate enrollment of 200 infants each, he pointed out.

Batista Rodríguez commented that there are 63 kindergartens in the province, which guarantee care and harmonious mental and physical development to more than 1,800 minors before they enter primary school.

The granting of these capacities is governed by Resolution 172/2021 of Decree-Law 56/2021 "On the maternity of the worker and the responsibility of families", where priority is given to mothers with children in Special education, two or more children and students with early childhood children, he said.

Currently there are more than three thousand requests for places and work has been done to reduce that number through the Children's Houses, in which pedagogical support is given to early childhood from the labor institutions of their parents and thus reduce the demands, he added.

The operation of these educational centers represents an advance to be taken into account in the pedagogical system of the northeastern territory, since it guarantees the right to education of children and supports working mothers and students in the care and development of their children.
