The small Hydroelectric Power Plant located in the Mayarí Dam, in the Holguín municipality of the same name, maintains a daily generation that oscillates between 47 and 51 MW/h, an example of the use of renewable energies for sustainability.

Eduardo Enrique Gálvez de Fuentes, director of the Company of Renewable Energy Sources (EMFRE), at the Holguín Business Unit (UEB) said that these parameters are a consequence of the synchronization of unit 2 on the right bank, currently in operation together with unit 1.

He added that specialists work in the place, together with foreign assistance, to guarantee its efficiency and optimal performance, while the arrival of some necessary import resources for the other two units on the right bank is awaited.

"Our purpose is to contribute and put all the units into operation to contribute to the generation of electricity," said Ruohao Wu, a specialist from the People's Republic of China.

Gálvez de Fuentes specified that they are currently working on the automation, assembly of the turbine and alignment of the generator on the left bank.

Brigades from the EMFRE, the Power Plant Maintenance Company and the Industrial Works Construction Company are also involved in the work, aimed at increasing the use value of the East-West Transfer.
