Girl with foreign body in esophagus is saved in Holguín

A multidisciplinary team from the Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital in the province of Holguín successfully extracted a nut from the esophagus of a girl on Monday night.
It is a patient from the municipality of Banes, who swallowed the metal object by accident, which lodged in the cervical esophagus, Dr. Alberto Ibarra Batista, a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology, told the !ahora! newspaper website.
He highlighted that after performing the x-rays, the surgical procedure was carried out with favorable results in approximately one hour, which saved the life of the patient who is evolving satisfactorily in the health institution, located in the city of Holguín.
He explained that her esophagus was very traumatized, but not perforated, for which reason, under endoscopic visión, a nasogastric tube was placed so that she could eat while she gets well.
