The XXXII Juan Rius Rivera Solidarity Brigade, from Puerto Rico, arrived in eastern Cuba today, through the Frank País International Airport in the city of Holguín on a flight from Miami, United States.
The Brigade, made up of around fifteen people, will hold a program of activities to exchange with the people and ratify their commitment in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States to the island.
They will make donations to health centers, schools and children's projects, in addition to sharing cultural actions on a tour of various provinces of the country.
Milagros Rivera Pérez, president of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Puerto Rico, in statements to ACN said that with their arrival they are challenging the US government's ban on traveling to the island, and their mission is to publicize the Cuban reality, since there is a lot of misinformation, especially on social media.
The also director of the Brigade explained that this July 25 marks the 125th anniversary of the Yankee invasion of Puerto Rico, and they will be reaffirming themselves as a nation that has ties of friendship with the largest of the Antilles and will participate in the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, to be commemorated on July 26.
The group's program in the eastern territory includes a visit to MSMEs, new forms of economic management in the country, and a meeting with internationalist doctors as a sign of solidarity between both peoples.
They will also visit the municipality of Moa where they will hold an exchange with workers from the Ernesto Che Guevara Nickel Company and will attend a cultural activity of the La Colmenita children's project.
