Holguín Pediatric Hospital undergoing renovation works

The Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja pediatric hospital is undergoing renovation works in its health facilities as part of the strategy to improve services in the institution.
The 2023 investment and maintenance plan includes three important works: the oxygen plant, the Intermediate Care Unit and the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, the latter had not been repaired since the foundation of the health center.
Repairs such as painting, the carpentry and waterproofing of ceilings in the cardiology rooms, the microbiology laboratory and the blood bank, were carried out in the institution.
The Intermediate Care Unit, scheduled to open on July 26, with a capacity to receive 16 seriously ill children, is equipped to assist nine-bed patients with mechanical ventilation. On the other hand, it was conceived in accordance with the action protocols and has a multidisciplinary team of intensive care doctors and nurses.
The renovation of the Microbiology Clinical Laboratory is supported by 50 million CUP. At present, progress is being made in the veneer, in the installation of electrical and hydraulic networks.
The Cardiology outpatient area, recently structurally improved, provides services in better conditions.
With the revitalization of these facilities, it is intended to improve the stay and comfort of pediatric patients and companions, a way to favorably influence the quality of services in Holguín. (With information from Radio Angulo)
