Minister of Public Health carried out working visit to Holguín

The progress of the rehabilitation of important works in execution in the provincial university hospital V.I. Lenin was valued as positive by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda, at the end of a working visit to the province together with a team of directors and officials of that body.
Accompanied by Manuel Hernández Aguilera, Governor of Holguín, Portal Miranda toured the fourth floor of that institution, where major renovation works are undertaken in the Neonatology Room, scheduled to be completed next August.
The room will have 50 capacities, according to the number of births delivered in this hospital, with the largest number of annual deliveries in the country.
The Minister also visited the Territorial Oncology Center, whose Surgical Unit, completely renovated and equipped with three operating rooms, a preoperative room and a recovery cubicle, only waits for the entry of the anesthesia machines.
He also visited the areas where the Brachytherapy equipment and the modern multislice tomograph are installed, which benefits patients from the provinces of Holguín, Las Tunas and Granma.
Prior to this tour of the Lenin hospital, Portal Miranda participated in the extraordinary Board of Directors of the DPS, attended by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in Holguín, in which issues such as the Maternal and Child Program (Pami), the hygienic-epidemiological situation of the territory and the recovery of health facilities and communities after the damage caused by floods in the province due to the recent heavy rains, were analized.
The Minister recognized that Holguín is a school in the Pami, for which he expressed confidence that from the analysis carried out, they will know how to transform the current results of the territory, which over the years has been distinguished by low infant and maternal mortality rates.
He recalled that this province, along with Havana and Santiago de Cuba, are decisive in the Pami indicators.
Finally, he said that Health has technical leadership and must "drag" other organizations behind it, to achieve each objective set in favor of the well-being and quality of life of the people.
