Provincial Environment Award delivered in Holguín

The Iberostar Holguín Hotel received the Provincial Environment Award in this eastern city, as part of the activities for June 5, a day dedicated to environmental issues worldwide.
The facility has among its achievements, the elimination of single-use plastics, in addition to the use of biodegradable materials and the transition towards the circular economy, one of the challenges of the business sector in the 21st century.
Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz, delegate of the sector, highlighted the achievements of the territory in topics such as the eradication of polluting sources, the fight against desertification and the reforestation of areas affected by mining activity and hydrographic basins of national interest.
He also highlighted the importance of nature conservation for maintaining the balance of ecosystems and confronting climate change, through the implementation of strategies aimed at sustainable development.
In the celebration, the catalog of sandy beaches, the Botanical Garden, the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel and the Ecomadera plastic construction project, were also awarded with the Territorial Environmental Recognition 2023.
Since 1972, the United Nations Organization established the World Environment Day to facilitate the approval of government policies that contribute to reducing pollution, desertification, drought and the loss of biodiversity.
