Holguín to carry out Meteoro 2023 this weekend

This May 20 and 21, the Meteoro 2023 popular exercise will be held in Holguín, and the country, with the aim of strengthening the preparation and response capacities of the territory to face the dangers of natural, technological or health disasters.
In its first day, the Provincial Defense Council, through videoconference with the National Civil Defense Staff, will receive an update on the assessment of the disaster dangers in the country, as well as the state of surveillance and early warning systems with a view to the next hurricane season, the behavior of the hydrological situation, intense drought, international health situation and its incidence in the nation, seismic activity and tsunamis, and forest fires.
For its part, the CDP will offer a series of conferences on issues that affect the territory, including motor transport accidents. It will also address the measures implemented after the experiences of accidents occurred at the Hotel Saratoga, in Havana, and the supertanker base, in Matanzas, since there are similar objectives in the province.
The experiences in confronting forest fires, particularly in the Pinares de Mayarí area, and the actions to be carried out by Holguín in joint work with the south east to counteract the effects of the occurrence of earthquakes will be topics of interest in this popular exercise Meteoro 2023, as well as the implementation results of the hazard, vulnerability and risk studies.
On Sunday, during the National Defense Day, Meteoro will direct its actions to reduce vulnerabilities and the preparation of the brigades that participate in the response and recovery in disaster situations, of entities or residential.
