Since the 1980s, the National Office of Statistics and Information (Onei) has carried out the National Occupation Survey (ENO), which in 2023 will take place from April 3 to June 30 throughout the country, by personnel duly prepared to develop the work.

The survey is aimed at verifying the magnitude and structure of the Economically Active Population (EAP-employed and unemployed) and the Non-Economically Active (PNEA-people outside the EAP).

Ernesto Hernández García, head of the Department of Social Studies and Mathematics of the Center for Population and Development Studies (CEPDE), said that the request is expected to reach about 63,000 Cuban households, whose members will be able to answer questions related to the context, such as housing conditions.

He highlighted that the data provided by the members of the surveyed families "is only used for the conformation of statistical aggregates and in no case is it individualized, always respecting the reliability of those declared by the interviewee."

For her part, Ana Elsy Cedeño, institutional communicator of Onei in the province, explained that the selected homes are based on a probabilistic sample, which will cover both the urban and rural areas to help promote reliable results at the territory and the country level.

Regarding the survey staff, duly identified with a blue blazer and supporting document upon arrival at the chosen houses, they will present themselves and request the collaboration of the people to answer the survey, which will be carried out with the use of mobile devices.

Among the indicators to be measured will be the number of working people, age, skin color, province, educational levels and the prospects of Cubans in terms of employment, among others.
