The people of Holguín gave a positive response in the recent elections to elect the Deputies to the Cuban Parliament, who were elected in their entirety (40) with the support of the majority, informed Caridad Ramos Sánchez, president of the provincial Electoral Council (CEP).


The day began with a basic report of 747 thousand 321 voters registered in the electoral roll of Holguín, the third province in the country with the largest number of voting population, after Havana and Santiago de Cuba, a figure that, according to the updated list at the end of the vote, it amounted to 782 thousand 458.

Ramos Sánchez said that the voters had the possibility of attending the polling stations until 7:00 pm, since the day was extended by another hour to facilitate those who had not yet exercised the right to vote.

“According to preliminary data, 544 thousand 968 ballots were deposited in the polls, for a 72.92 percent turnout,” she pointed out.

Among the territories with the greatest attendance to the polling stations were “Rafael Freyre”, Antilla, “Frank País” and Moa.
Regarding the quality of the vote, she explained that 6.0 percent of the total was counted blank and 2.75 percent voided, while 492,385 ballots were valid, for 90.35 percent.

The vote for all the candidates represented the will of the majority, since 357,500 ballots reflected it, while a little more than 27 percent opted for the selective vote.

Caridad Ramos praised the organization, transparency and adherence to the law with which the 718 thousand 747 electoral authorities acted, the more than 800 collaborators and 115 participating supervisors.

The leadership of the Party and Government in the province extended its recognition to those involved in the results of the elections in Holguín, with emphasis on the participation of the people, whose sincere response contributed to writing another successful page in the electoral history of the Cuban Revolution.
