Holguín prepares its first catalog of sandy beaches

The Center for Research and Environmental Services (Cisat), belonging to the territorial delegation of Citma in Holguín, exhibits among its achievements the preparation of the first catalog of sandy beaches in the country.
The catalog of sandy beaches of the coastal area of the province includes the 66 beaches registered by the center and characterizes them by their extension and type of sand; It describes its ecosystem, its environmental problems and the management actions.
Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz, Citma's territorial delegate, comments that "this catalog has a double function; it is an important scientific result and a working tool".
The information provided in this catalog, turns it into an important working tool to develop investment actions in tourism respecting environmental regulations, so that there is a true sustainable development on the natural resource beaches.
It is very important to take into account the various functions of the beach in the interest of adequately locating constructions and real estate developments in the coastal zone, with the aim of ensuring the physical and ecological stability of the beach and its long-term conservation.
