His Excellency the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Ma Hui reaffirmed in visit to the eastern province of Holguín the ties of solidarity and friendship that unite the Asian Giant with the small Caribbean island, while condemning the United States blockade against our country.
Ma Hui, together with the delegation that accompanies him on his tour of Holguín, visited the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University General Hospital, where are currently operating two of the five medical oxygen plants donated by that country to health institutions in this territory.
In his visit the diplomat assured that "the best solution to an international crisis such as the pandemic is solidarity, therefore China and Cuba, by practicing this sentiment, have managed to control this health problem, a fact that we need to celebrate."
He added that his country is firmly opposed to the politicization of the COVID-19 pandemic, a disease against which it is necessary to fight all together and on the basis of aid and respect for the countries. “This is a challenge that we need to face in community. China and Cuba as developing nations have sent medical brigades to other countries to help cure the sick and save lives".
In a very special way, he recognized the work carried out by the largest of the Antilles in the fight against COVID-19 and very particularly the scientists who managed to develop the Abdala, Soberana and Soberana plus vaccines, the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean to materialize that success, despite the U.S blockade of the United States to which China firmly opposes.
He showed interest in learning more about the province of Holguín, where the first Chinese arrived in the 1930s - according to Ma Hui -, to share with the Government of his country in which areas they can further cooperate with this territory, one of the most populated on the island.
Dr. Julio Yamel Verdecia Reyes, general director of Public Health in the province, expressed the gratitude of the political, governmental authorities and the Holguín health system to China for the donation of this technology, as well as other resources and supplies received in the midst of the pandemic and the support received.
