Inés María Chapman checks construction progress of Levisa dam

Inés María Chapman Waugh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, checked the progress of the construction works at Levisa dam, in the Holguín municipality of Mayarí, the main hydraulic investment being carried out associated with the East-West transfer in the eastern territory.


Chapman Waugh arrived on Thursday to check its construction, support and suggest solutions to the lack of resources, equipment and pieces and accompany those involved in its execution to beat adversity.

Carlos Luis Abreu Junco, director of Ecoi 16, main executor of the work, explained how they appeal to the experience of designers and builders to apply alternatives that guarantee the vitality of the actions and exemplified the preparation of aggregates in the mill of the work, as well as the recovery of backhoes, and other equipment and parts.

The engineer Aniel Álvarez, general designer, informed that the construction of the dam is undergoing the second stage of the four established, dedicated to the construction of the left bank and other actions, such as the continuity of the pipeline that will link this reservoir with the Mayarí dam, the spillway and tunnels.

Once this aquifer is completed, it will transfer 80 million cubic meters of water to the Mayarí dam, a volume that can be reached by runoff, since its capacity is 6.38 cubic meters, destined to supply agriculture and the population.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised the good atmosphere that prevails there, the way in which work with young people is intended and that, despite material limitations, progress is made slowly, but without pause.
