The "Calixto García" solidarity brigade that will depart for the province of Pinar del Río , received the flag today in this eastern city, as part of the contributions to the recovery of the western territory, hit by Hurricane Ian last September.
This brigade is made up of 30 peasants who will work to recover the tobacco infrastructure of Vueltajabo., devastated by the meteorological phenomenon that touched Cuban land as category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale, of a maximum of five.
In ceremony held at the Plaza Mayor General Calixto García, the head of the brigade, Rafael Morales Morales, expressed the decision to collaborate for the necessary time in the recovery of this exportable item, one of the most important economic lines of the country.
He noted that the solidarity contribution also salutes the 65th and 170th anniversaries of the Peasant Congress in Arms and the birth of the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, as a reaffirmation of the revolutionary commitment of the new generations.
Diosmanis Cruz Morales, an official of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, underlined the altruistic values of the brigade and the message of gratitude for the selfless gesture, regardless of the distances or the time required for recovery actions in Pinar del Río territory.
Holguín has also collaborated with specialized personnel from the electrical, forestry, and communications sectors, and various political and mass organizations have sent bags with food and hygiene supplies for the victims.
