Holguín to promote the export of goods and services

The need to establish Cuban products in the international market that contribute to the positioning of Cuba in cross-border trade, was ratified today during the analysis of work carried out by the Holguín-Las Tunas Delegation of the Chamber of Commerce.


In this sense, it is necessary to achieve the exportable route, which goes from the producer, the guarantee of logistics and training of the actors in the process to the insertion of the services or goods to be commercialized.

Antonio Carricarte, president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce (CCC), said that “for export there is nothing impossible, what is required is to look for new forms or business alternatives; clear the bureaucratic obstacles and assume with practical sense the transformations to which the business community of the Island is called”.

To materialize this objective, the CCC is called to transcend beyond trade fairs and in the training actions of its members, because this institution has to be a platform in which all economic actors can integrate and offer solutions to the problems of the import and export chains, added Carricarte.

For his part, Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, Governor of the province, ratified the importance of improving agility in the development of the economy, for which it is necessary to boost the work strategies defined in the programs of the entities.

Holguín, from a region with an agricultural tradition, is currently considered one of the main industrial zones in the country, with an economic development supported by the leisure industry, internationally recognized for its beaches and comfortable hotel facilities, mostly four and five stars; In addition, mining activity constitutes one of the items for export, as well as agro-industrial production.

In the same way, other sectors are promoted, such as renewable energy sources, Culture and professional services. In total, it has 36 exportable items, including 25 goods coming from the mining, agriculture, seafood, sugar and manufacturing industries, among others.

Holguín currently has two entities which were granted the faculty for foreign trade activity, the Engineering and Design Services Company (VERTICE) for services and the Héroes del 26 de Julio Mechanical Company, HOLMECA, intended for goods associated with the metal-mechanic industry.

Work is being done at the Wilfredo Peña Horticultural Company to turn it into an export center of Holguín, for which training and support actions have been carried out here.

The CCC promotes intersectoral work programs and actions for countries which integrate all economic actors and from innovation and with the support of experts, the business community is guaranteed to increase industrial competitiveness, the strengthening of value chains based on internationalization and the transition to digital transformation.

For 2023, the Holguín-Las Tunas Delegation has five fundamental work objectives, including strengthening the role of the institution in promoting exports of goods and services; as well as business opportunities with foreign capital and identify new export opportunities that may include diversification with other products and/or markets.
