Holguín receives Canadian solidarity brigade with Cuba

The Calixto Garcia Canadian Solidarity Brigade arrived this November 28 in Holguín with the aim to develop a broad program of activities, which will extend to different points of this province and other areas of eastern Cuba.
The Brigade, who every year in November come to Cuba to collaborate and learn about its history and culture, is a project of the delegation in the territory of the Cuban Friendship Institute that aims to increase and spread the reality of a country that has been under blockade for more than 60 years.
In the welcoming ceremony, held at the Hotel Pernik, the province's Lieutenant Governor, Yunia Pérez Hernández, highlighted the ties that unite both nations and defined the visit as an act of deep brotherhood between two peoples.
This edition is especially dedicated to the centenary of the University Student Federation, the 60th anniversary of the Young Communist League and the 170th anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti.
During the visit, the Canadian friends will carry out volunteer work days, tours of health centers and deliveries of donations, especially school supplies and medical supplies.
Founded on November 29, 2018, the Calixto Garcia Brigade is made up of members of the Cuba Solidarity Movement, delegates to international colloquia for the release of the Five Heroes, as well as trade unionists and fighters in favor of the Cuban revolutionary process who travel from cities such as Ontario, Alberta, Vancouver, Victoria and British Columbia of that North American country.
