With the motto “Will to nominate”, the process of nominating candidates for delegates to the municipal assemblies of People's Power began this October 21 in the province of Holguín and the country, which will last until November 18.
During this period, 4,231 assemblies will be held in this eastern territory, as the first step for the election of 1,263 delegates, and will take place at agreed times in the nomination areas.
Caridad Ramos Sánchez, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission, explained that for this process more than 770,000 Holguín residents make up the electoral roll, people with effective residence, with a minimum of five years of permanence in the country, in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Law, a requirement that the nominated people must also meet.
“It is important to point out that in this process, it is mandatory to reside in the place where this democratic exercise will take place and from two to eight candidates may be nominated,” Ramos Sánchez explained.
According to the schedule, the last week is reserved for the assemblies that due to some contingency cannot be held on their planned date, so that all voters have the possibility of exercising their right to propose whoever they consider capable of representing them in Government instances.
Caridad Ramos specified that the schedule continues with the publication of the biographies of the nominees, a process that will take place from November 11 to 22, so that the electoral population knows for who they will cast their vote on November 27, when the elections are held in each constituency.
