The National Accreditation Board (JAN) of the Ministry of Higher Education, culminates today the external evaluation process to certify the quality in the specialty of Agricultural Extension at the University of Holguín.
The certification of the specialty offers the possibility of collaboration, commercialization and exchange with other universities and foreign institutions, for which the quality of the faculty, the infrastructure of the career, the social impact of the study program, among other indicators, are evaluated.
The group of experts, headed by Dr. C. Idalberto Senú González, professor at the Universidad de Oriente, accompanied by three academics from the Universities of Guantánamo, Granma and Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba, reviewed the teaching programs aimed at the training of recognized professionals.
Dr. C. Isabel Cristina Torres Torres, rector of the University of Holguín, presented to the JAN commission the characteristics and main results of the institution, which has an enrollment of more than 16 thousand students, one of the largest campuses from the country.
The head of the Holguín House of Higher Education insisted on the commitment of the academic committee of the Agrarian Extension specialty, belonging to the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, to work for excellence, as this is a space to grow and achieve a university of excellence.
Ernesto Santisteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, said that the accreditation of this specialty will help to continue consolidating good results in food production, one of the problems that, in particular, must be addressed with priority in Holguín.
