Anti-COVID-19 booster dose benefits about 28,000 children in Holguín

The booster vaccination with Soberana Plus benefits more than 28,000 children in the province of Holguín, as part of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) programs to strengthen the immune system of populations vulnerable to COVID-19.
This vaccination process, which began on August 8, includes children between two and 11 years of age, for which vaccination points are opened in schools, day care centers and family doctor’s offices, as well as trained medical personnel and the availability of doses.
Rubén Sierra, an official from the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, said to the ACN that exclusion criteria such as unbalanced chronic conditions, oncological treatments or high doses of steroids are maintained and in the case of these patients they are gradually being incorporated to the planned schemes.
He added that the health sector extends promotional programs focused on maintaining control of the new coronavirus, even with the reduction in the number of confirmed cases in recent weeks.
Around 40 million doses of the Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus vaccines, developed by Cuban scientists, have been administered in the country, while the island was the first country in the world to start immunization in pediatric ages.
Holguín has about five million inoculated injections, in vulnerable groups such as the elderly, transplant patients, the disabled, pregnant women and personnel who, due to their work area, have a high risk of contagion with SarsCOV-2 and more than 95 percent of the population has received the complete scheme.
