Cuban Vice Prime Minister checks water supply in Holguín

Cuban Vice Prime Minister, Inés María Chapman, checked on Thursday in the province of Holguín issues related to the water supply to the population, one of the social programs prioritized in Cuba.
In the meeting, Juan Mario Echavarría, acting delegate of Hydraulic Resources in the province, informed that actions are being undertaken for the installation of generators, the grouping of the pumping systems in the same circuits of electrical affectation and the use of tankers to bring water closer to the communities.
He added that the province's reservoirs are 74 percent full, while 62 sources are affected by the drought, including more than 27,000 residents of the municipalities of Calixto García, Gibara and the provincial capital.
Chapman indicated to work rapidly on new variables to operate the supply systems, taking into account the electrical effects, as well as solving the breakdowns in the paralyzed aqueducts, incorporating agreements with companies in the mechanical industry for the repair of parts.
She also referred to the importance of maintaining communication through traditional media and social networks, essential in informing the population about this issue.
Also participating in the meeting were Jorge Armando Cepero, director of the Electric Union and Bladimir Matos Moya, first vice president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province; Julio Cesar Estupiñan Rodríguez, Governor of Holguín, among other political and governmental authorities from the territory.
