Entrepreneurs from the province of Holguín show their potential in areas related to industry, design and development of engineering projects, construction and food production, among others, at the ExpoCaribe International Fair, which began this Thursday in Santiago de Cuba.
The 17th edition of this event, considered the second largest commercial exchange in Cuba due to its relevance, welcomes 35 economic actors from Holguín, who attend as exhibitors and professional visitors.
Gabriel Pérez, director of the Holguín-Las Tunas delegation of the Chamber of Commerce, during the opening of the business meeting, said to ¡ahora! local newspaper that this is an opportunity to promote the goods and services of the territory, the second with largest number of participants in ExpoCaribe.
He specified that the exchange with delegations from other provinces and Caribbean nations will be a way to favor the productive chain, the substitution of imports, the export of items and foreign investment.
Pérez underlined the importance of taking advantage of each of the spaces of the event, in areas of deepening relations with the rest of the national business community and opening the way in trade with the Caribbean Community, CARICOM, to which this edition of the Fair is dedicated.
Precisely, that was an idea, which in general, was defended by the ambassador of Belize in Cuba and representative of the pro tempore presidency of Caricom, Lu Ann Martínez, who also insisted on seeking innovative and creative ways to associate, market and grow in the Caribbean.
Strategy that several companies intend to assimilate, such as the Port of Moa, which promotes its capabilities for any type of import or export by cabotage in that region of northeastern Cuba.
On the other hand, the three-phase electric motors of alternating current between 2.2 and 7.5 Kw of power manufactured by Tuaba, the only entity of its kind in Cuba, attract attention for their energy efficiency and their use in the operation of forage machines and electric pumps.
Other participants are micro, small and medium enterprises, including the Center for Sociocultural Development, Consiba, Meca V and Cobransa.
Friday’s agenda includes the launching of the call for ExpoHolguín -2023, which after its suspension in 2020 due to COVID-19, has the purpose, for this edition, of consolidating itself as a business platform aimed at the diversity of local, national and international economic actors.
This year, 264 national and foreign companies participate in ExpoCaribe, representing all economic actors from 25 countries in the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe.
