With the resumption of charter flights from Miami and Tampa to Holguín, operations will gradually increase at the Frank País International Airport, where between 11 and 12 weekly aircraft arrived until last Friday, the 17th, mostly from Canada.
Alexis González Arias, head of operations at the Holguín air terminal, explained that in addition to Canadian airlines, with the largest number of arrivals, there were also connections with the Bahamas, Italy, Germany and Mexico.
Regarding regular flights from the United States, he added that conditions are created in the Frank País airport, but so far there are no requests, although the intentions of the airlines with experience and market in the destination are known.
For her part, Elizabeth García Oro, director of the Havanatur T&T Oriente Norte Branch, said that the charter company Sagua Services & Travel, with experience in the country, will operate in this territory for the first time with two weekly flights (Monday and Friday), for the moment.
García Oro added that another four operations have been approved by the Cuban Civil Aeronautics Institute (IACC) to begin on June with two flights per week by XAEL Charter, ViajeHoy, Invicta and AnmartAir, which for the first time landed in Holguín on the 19th.
June 17 marked the restart of charter flights from Miami to Holguín, interrupted since March 2020 as a result of the measures imposed by the Donald Trump administration.
The arrival of the World Atlantic airline N807TR aircraft at Frank País International in Holguín, opened this new stage of air connection between both cities to the satisfaction and comfort of travelers, who will no longer need to travel to Havana to be able to travel to the United States or vice versa and return to normal after two years without this type of activity.
