The Plaza del Arte Joven in the vicinity of the Calixto García park in this city was filled with lit candles in solidarity with the victims of the explosion at Hotel Saratoga in Havana, a sign of the sensitivity of the artistic avant-garde that is participating in the 29th edition of the Romerías de Mayo.

It was the fourth day of the festival of traditions and modernity, when the news of the incident shocked all of Cuba, the decision of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Organizing Committee of the event to suspend concerts and other cultural activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday was not long in coming.

Rafael González Muñoz, national president of the AHS, and the official profiles of the Romerías, immediately expressed their deep solidarity with the event and its consequences, which was the reason for organizing a vigil that, with the participation of several provinces of the country, summoned artistic youth and Holguín people in general.

As a light of solidarity, this was valued by the national vice president of the AHS, Yasel Toledo Garnache, in statements to the Cuban News Agency.

The AHS, as the host organization of this World Festival of Artistic Youth, announced that the rise of the Ax of Holguín, in the modern area of the city, will symbolically put an end to this event that returned to the face-to-face modality after two years of limitations imposed by COVID-19.

The Memoria Nuestra Prize will be awarded as the culmination of the event and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the creation of Ediciones La Luz, the publishing house of the AHS in Holguín, several panels dedicated to literary criticism will be held, Toledo Garnache pointed out.

The Cuban artistic youth gathered to celebrate the Romerías, today show solidarity with the events that occurred at the Saratoga hotel with sincere samples such as the vigil, a post on social networks or the slow and calm conversation to refer to the unfortunate event.
