Workshop on Biological Diversity and Tourism to be held in Gibara

The coastal city of Gibara will host the Workshop on Biological Diversity and Tourism (Biotur) from July 18 to 20, with the aim of promoting nature tourism and various products from the eastern region of Cuba.


Sponsored by the Ecotur S.A Travel Agency - Oriente Branch, the event will include four routes that cover part of the territories of Holguín and Las Tunas, according to the program of activities.

The route of the first group will cover the Ruralidad Holguinera route, with a nautical journey through the roadstead and the Gibara and Cacoyogüín rivers; visits to the Los Hidalgos equestrian center, agroecological farms and walks along the Farallones de Moa trails, in the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, a World Heritage Site.

A second group will undertake part of the Ruta de Colón, departing from Gibara to the Cristóbal Colón Park and lasting seven days and six nights, to complete the chronological route described by the Spanish Admiral in his logbook during the first voyage through the coast of Cuba, in 1492.

The agenda also includes other proposals for the participants, among them Agrotourism and fauna observation; Eco adventure Cave Diving and Holguín Rurality, which will take place after the opening of the Workshop and its theoretical event.

The exhibition of the Ecovalor project with the respective valuation of ecosystem goods and services as an alternative for the development of sustainable tourism in the north of the province of Holguín and the presentation of Ecotur tourist products and a commercial round are also among the activities planned.

The Workshop on Biological Diversity and Tourism will conclude on July 20 at the Club Amigo Atlántico Guardalavaca hotel with the announcement of Biotur-2023 event.
