The sugar cane harvester factory 60 Aniversario de la Revolución de Octubre of Holguín, the only one of its kind in Cuba, promotes the production of spare parts for the nickel industry, as part of the import substitution programs.

This strategy is part of the improvement plans of the socialist state company, based on the approval of a group of government measures to facilitate the management and autonomy of the entities, one of the priorities of the Ordering Task.

Alian Cordovés, deputy director of the facility, told the Cuban News Agency that the components are mainly used in the reduction, calcination and sintering furnaces, processes carried out during the extraction and processing of the mineral, whose main deposits are located in the municipality of Moa.

According to Cordovés, more than 600 components for nickel development have been provided this year, with good acceptance by customers, which represents economic savings for the country of about 105 thousand dollars.

He explained that when these products are imported, they sometimes take a few months to arrive, which is why is an advantage the link of the Holguín entity with the plants in order to provide the necessary parts for the maintenance of the indicators in operation within the mining areas.

Founded on July 27, 1977 at the initiative of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, the industry is the result of collaboration between Cuba and the former Soviet Union, with the purpose of boosting the sugar industry in the largest of the Antilles.

For more than 40 years the company has been a leader in the manufacture of parts for different models of sugarcane harvesting machines, mainly the KTP-2M, CASE A-7000, CCA-5000 and CCA-5500, main orders and entity's production lines.
