Ageism is a growing challenge for today's societies and affects people around the world, António Guterres, UN secretary-general, warned.

He also said how an increased solidarity and contributions from all society is now urgent to combat ageism.

According to this report, one in two people in the world has discriminatory attitudes, leading to poorer physical and mental health and a lower quality of life for the elderly.
