Trade Fair, for sustainable and inclusive tourism

The Trade Fair of suppliers to the tourism industry held on Tuesday in the city of Holguín reaffirmed the existing potential in the eastern Cuban territory to expand the portfolio of suppliers of goods and services and reduce imports in the leisure industry, as well as encouraging local development.
In the main hall of Expo Holguín, more than 20 forms of non-state management and companies of the territory showed traditional products of agriculture, industry and academia, as well as a wide variety of articles, food productions and others produced by Cooperatives of Credits and Services (CCS), Self-Employed Workers and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (Mipymes), three of them represented with great acceptance among the Tourism sector.
Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary of the political organization in the province, and Julio César Estupiñán, Governor of Holguín, met with the participants, who agreed that this type of activity opens the way for promoting their work, talk with future clients and thus conclude contracts that enable the production chain.
Entities belonging to the Ministry of Tourism, such as the Islazul and Cubanacán hotel groups, as well as the Palmares extra-hotel and Inmobiliaria S. A attended with their main actors, including chef de cuisine, bartender, heads of insurance and works, for them to visualize the wide sample of high quality goods and services at hand, for which it is only necessary to define negotiations.
When evaluating the Fair, Estupiñán said that the fair, convened by the local government, confirms how much is done and can be achieved within the province itself, as if the Tourism sector sign agreements it would avoid expensive imports and even go out from the territory to look for agricultural lines, spare parts or a specific services in other regions of the country.
The Governor assured that the most important thing is the variety of participating actors from cooperatives, self-employed workers, MSMEs and state companies, which can be linked and serve Tourism, which begins to revitalize itself from the opening of borders with the gradual increase of commercial operations in the Frank País International Airport, which expects to close November with 17 weekly flights and reach about 30 by the end of the year.
