The Canadian airline company Air Transat will be increasing its commercial operations this November with the Frank País international airport in Holguín, where it restarted its flights last October, after being interrupted on February 11, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current two weekly flights will increase to four, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays departing from Montreal and Toronto, while for December the number of flights is expected to rise.

Yoel Hechavarría Leyva, general coordinator of the Holguín air terminal, said that Sunwing flights also started operations on Tuesday, November 2 with two frequencies a week, Tuesday and Thursday, with a stopover in Santa Clara in the central province of Villa Clara.

He assured that once the demand for this destination is expanded, the flight will come complete to this province, whose main source of tourists is Canada, for which it is expected that this tour operator will carry out direct operations shortly.

According to the Frank País airport profile on Facebook, in November there will also be commercial operations from Moscow with the company Nordwind Airlines, on Tuesdays and Fridays, 23 and 30 and 19 and 26, respectively, as well as with Bahamas Air, scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays (17 and 14 and 21 and 28).

In mid-September, the General Directorate of the Cuban Company of Airports and Airport Services (ECASA SA) verified in situ the optimal conditions of the Holguín air terminal for the restart of international operations, with a view to the gradual opening of borders and the winter high season.
