Twenty-five foreign doctors from 10 countries graduated on Monday at the Holguín University of Medical Sciences (UCMHo), an institution that in 49 years has graduated more than 30 thousand Cuban doctors and health professionals from 47 countries.
Anouhou Seyni Sami, from the Republic of Niger; Celani Sphamandla Nsibantze, from Swaziland and Boago Kinseley Osele, from Botswana graduated with honors.
The new foreign health professionals are also from Indonesia, Iesoto, Palestine, Sahrawi Arab Republic and Sudan.
In the graduation ceremony, Joelle Mazi Kenze, from the Central African Republic reaffirmed “the decision to fight for the lives of those in need, in anywhere in the world, as Fidel dreamed it”.
“During our time in Cuba we had the privilege of learning not only about Medicine, but cultivated a different culture and knew how to live and value a more supportive and humane way of life. This will be our home forever, because we are Cubans born in another land,”said Anouhou Seyni Samí.
Dr. Galina Galcerán, rector of the UCMHo, urged them to continue self improving with the social commitment of being next to the most needy, as highly trained professionals in a profession of great dedication and sacrifices, but first of all humanist.
