Holguín: Health intervention with Cuban vaccine Abdala begins

The health intervention to the population with the Abdala vaccine began this Monday in the municipality of Holguín, by people aged 60 and over who will receive three doses of the immunogen in a 0-14-28-day schedule.
Dr. Luis Orlando Castro González, deputy director general of Health in the province, said that in a first stage the vaccine will be administered to more than 82 thousand people of that age group while those over 19 years of age up to 59 years will be incorporated gradually, to thus complete the more than 269 25 people in this territory, the most populated and with a high incidence of positive cases for COVID-19.
In the province, 93 clinical sites and 162 vaccination points were certified, which have all material conditions and personnel trained to start Monday from early in the morning.
In each vaccination point, 80 people will be vaccinated daily, who will be duly informed from their medical office, to achieve their assistance on the day that corresponds to them.
In this regard, Dr. Eduardo Mejías, Health Director of the main municipality, said that this Monday 13 vaccination points were opened in the 10 health areas. During the week the remaining ones will be gradually opened to complete the 162 authorized in Holguín.
The intervention with the Abdala vaccine also began in the seven nursing homes and psychiatric hospitals in the province, as well as the application of a dose of Soberana Plus to doctors, nurses and other personnel of the convalescent sector of COVID-19.
On Sunday morning, some 300 thousand doses of the Cuban vaccine against COVID-19 Abdala arrived in the province of Holguín, whose effectiveness is 92.28 percent and has the authorization of emergency use from the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed).
