Holguín to start online campaign to celebrate World Environment Day

World Environment Day will be celebrated in Holguín with an online campaign to reflect the results achieved in the implementation of the environmental strategy and the achievement of its goals at the end of the 2016-2020 period.
The online campaign will start the 2021-2030 decade of the United Nations for the Restoration of Ecosystems, the main theme of the celebration as ecosystems support life on the planet.
The celebration will extend until July 30, with participation in the XIII International Convention on the Environment in digital platforms from the Palace of Conventions in Havana, with the Center for Research and Environmental Services (Cisat), the headquarters of the event.
“The activities are aimed at raising awareness among the population on importance of biodiversity and its impact on the protection of ecosystems, with the purpose to become active agents of sustainable development and promote the fundamental role of communities towards the subject”, explained Norkis Ochoa, Citma Environmental Education specialist.
Entities from the business sector, research centers, universities, community centers, the non-state sector, educational centers, Community Centers for Environmental Education, among others, will join the celebration on June 5.
The activities in social networks will focus on the exchange of experiences on the protection and conservation of natural resources and the confrontation of the effects of climate change.
