Holguín opens isolation centers for travelers

Various facilities were prepared as isolation centers for foreign travelers and Cubans from abroad, as well as for contacts of positive cases in the province of Holguín, which as of this Tuesday returned to Phase III for the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Dr. Alcides Lazo, head of the Provincial Public Health Directorate, said at press conference that the health authorities determined the relevance of creating conditions in all municipalities to house people who have had direct contact with patients with ovid-19 in their own territories.

In the head city, the Celia Sánchez Manduley university headquarters will host Cubans who have arrived from abroad, in accordance with the provisions of the new measures related to the isolation of travelers, based on the national, regional and international epidemiological situation and with the purpose to control the spread of COVID-19 cases in the country.

On the other hand, Mirador de Mayabe will host foreigners and non-resident Cubans who arrive in the territory, where they will wait until the result of the second PCR carried out on the fifth day of arrival, in accordance with the biosafety protocol.

In accordance with the new regulations related to the International Sanitary Control " Cuban residents will be isolated in centers prepared in the provinces and free of cost, as well as transportation to the center and back to their residence, once the quarantine ”, while in the case of“ non-resident foreigners and Cubans who arrive in the country will be isolated in hotel facilities assigned in each territory ”, but in this case the travelers will assume the expenses of the stay and transportation.

Holguín has reported 220 positive cases to COVID-19 in the last 15 days, for a rate of 21.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, including 201 autochthonous and 19 imported, of which 73.7 percent were detected at the border (14).
