II Provincial Immunology Conference to be held in Holguín

The II Provincial Immunology Conference (INMUNOHOLGUÍN 2025) will take place in Holguín on April 25th with the aim to share advancements in science, technology and innovation in the field of immunology, fostering collaboration between academic and scientific research institutions.

This event, which coincides with the celebration of the International Immunology Day on April 29th, was organized by the Holguín Chapter of the Cuban Society of Immunology, the University of Medical Sciences, and the Provincial Council of Health Scientific Societies.

Research on topics related to psychoneuroimmunology, immunopathology, the impact of infectious diseases and nutrition on the immune system, among other topics, will be presented during the event.

Immunology stands as a crucial specialty for public health, in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, as well as the development of innovative therapies.

Cuba has achieved significant results in this field, including vaccines against hepatitis B and SARS-CoV-2, and meningococcal meningitis type B and Haephophilus influenzae type B, among others.

Currently, the country has more than 10 biotechnological products for treating immunological, infectious, and chronic non-communicable diseases, along with seven registered products for cancer immunotherapy and more than 25 under research.
