Holguín shows achievements in specialty of Imaging

The health system in the province of Holguín shows achievements in the specialty of Imaging, as part of the programs to improve the quality of services to the population.

Yamilé Cruz, head of the branch's academic chapter, told ACN that among the results, it stands out the training of a greater number of experts based on the residency projects promoted by the University of Medical Sciences.

She explained that research and exchange events are promoted to socialize advances in the diagnosis of chronic conditions, including arthritis and cancer of different locations.

Cruz referred to the improvement of protocols for the management of emergency patients in orthopedics and traumatology, for which the criteria of radiologists is essential in the evolution of different injuries and fractures.
She also indicated that the specialty has been accredited for excellence since June 2021 and also highlights the creation of computer applications and a website to socialize the academic bibliography of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Imaging includes a set of processes used to create pictures of the human body, or parts of it, for clinical purposes to reveal, diagnose or examine pathology or the study of normal anatomy, for example, fractures, infections, tumors, tendon tears and sports or work injuries.

Holguín has this service in its three provincial hospitals, Pediatric Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja, Lucía Íñiguez Landín Surgical Clinic and Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Teaching Hospital, where modern technologies such as digital radiography are applied.
