Cuba Ready to Send More Doctors to Vietnam

Cuba expressed Wednesday its will to increase the health cooperation with Vietnam, especially with a hospital of the central province of Quang Binh,which was donated to this country by Fidel Castro.
 
Lianys Torres,Cuban ambassador in Vietnam visited this institution and stated the Caribbean country is going to keep on honoring this and other fields of cooperation as a part of the historical friendship among two nations.
 
Torres also introduced three newcomer doctors to incorporate to the staff of the hospital which has the historic name of Cuba-Vietnam Friendship.
 
The doctors are Piter Martinez (cardiologist), Aracelio Perez(orthopedic) and Crescencio Aneiro (neurosurgeon), who completed the list of another 17 who are working in Hanoi since some months ago.
 
Under a 2 years contract, extendable, the Cuban specialists will share their knowledge and mastering of the modern techniques to the fellow workers of this institution, nestled in the province capital, Dong Hoi.
 
This hospital owned its creation to the former Cuban President Fidel Castro when in 1973, even in times of war,visited the newly liberated central provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri. Its original building and equipment were financed by Cuba and ended in September,1981.

Nowadays the institution has 900 beds and 39 faculties and it is responsible of the health care, personal training, prevention and fight against epidemic, as well as investigation and application of modern techniques.
 
In the company of its authorities, Torres toured the hospital and interacted with patients. Before, the Cuban ambassador was received by the president of the Popular Committee of the province, Nguyen Huu Hoai, who explained the potentials of the territory, built on the war's ruins up to become in an example of the socio-economic development reached by the country.
 
Hoai reminded the special affection of the historical leader of the Cuban revolution for Quang Binh and pointed out his wish to, like in those times, the government of the Caribbean country supports the province in the health sector.
 
More than a quarter million Cuban doctors and other health professionals and technicians have served abroad in the past five decades and nowadays 50,000 of them fulfill missions in more than 60 countries. / PL
