The health system in the province of Holguín maintains the control measures of COVID-19 for the protection of vulnerable sectors, even when the eastern territory reduces the incidence rates of the disease, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
The family doctor's and nurse's offices are currently the main scenarios for monitoring patients with symptoms associated with the new coronavirus, while the booster vaccination process is advancing in the 14 municipalities, where about 500 thousand doses have been applied.
María Eugenia Escobar, a specialist at the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, said to the ACN that although the behavior of the epidemic has decreased, it is necessary to maintain the risk perception, mainly in the protection of newborns and older adults with Chronic noncommunicable diseases, including arterial hypertension.
She added that the reduction of patients in serious or critical condition, as well as the lethality rates, show the efficacy of Cuban immunogens, but their administration must be accompanied by the fulfillment of the established hygienic-sanitary measures.
In the territory there are also respiratory consultations in the health areas and hospitals, where there are multidisciplinary teams trained to classify patients, as well as monitor the evolution of confirmed cases.
During the last 15 days, Holguín has reported between 25 and 30 daily confirmed cases, with the greatest complexity in the provincial capital, hence the need to extreme individual protection regulations such as social distancing and the correct use of the nasobuco (face mask).
