New measures to contain COVID-19 are being adopted in health centers of the province of Holguín, as part of the protection programs for vulnerable sectors and guarantees of medical capacities amid the rise in positive cases.
Among the regulations implemented to counteract the spread of the pandemic is the regionalization of care in the municipalities where there are human resources and materials required, such as the cases of the Mayarí and Moa hospitals set up in the eastern area, which will receive patients from the five municipalities of this region of the territory.
On the other hand, admission rooms at the Lucía Íñiguez hospital and the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Pediatric hospital in the city of Holguín are prepared, with strict compliance with the established biosafety standards and the timely classification of each case, according to a report by the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology.
In the new normal stage, restrictions on companions and visits of admitted patients are also maintained, as well as the prohibition of entry to maternity homes, the elderly, psychiatric hospitals and care centers for citizens with wandering behaviors, the report indicates.
Based on the increase in positives, which exceed a thousand this month, clinical epidemiological follow-up is facilitated for national and international travelers, people with symptoms of the new coronavirus, infants, pregnant women, postpartum women, the elderly and other populations at risk.
Holguín also reinforces surveillance in Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) consultations, active health research in the community and isolation in homes with active focal points, while booster vaccination is advancing, with the application of more of 200 thousand doses of Abdala.
