The Dance Contest and Grand Prix Vladimir Malakhov, which takes place every two years in Holguín, will hold the “Memories of a Festival” space next September, to commemorate the experience of the five previous editions through digital platforms and different provincial and national media, as part of the measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event will provide a space to include the memories of previous events, said to the ACN news agency Maricel Godoy, director of the Codanza Contemporary Dance Company, host of the event.
According to Godoy, different materials such as interviews, works presented in the Competition and photographs, among others that recall the dance meeting will be socialized in digital platforms.
The event will convene the 6th edition of the Festival, chaired by the world ballet star Vladimir Malakhov, Godoy and the international ballet businessman Paul Seaquist.
Created in September 2014 with the aim of encouraging the work of young Cuban and Latin American dancers, the Contest has made possible the confluence in Holguín of dancers, choreographers, students, critics and dance researchers from various countries, including Spain, Mexico, Uruguay and the United States, as well as renowned dance companies and masters of the dance in Cuba.
