Holguín Culture Week begins

The 38th edition of the Holguín Culture Week started on Monday and will run until next Sunday, January 19, with an extensive program of activities that includes all artistic expressions and the most rooted traditions of the city.

The celebration began with the opening parade, which was distinguished by the color and enthusiasm of the participants, including young university students, the Oral Narration Company Palabras al Viento, the Spanish Ballet of Holguín, the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, the Academy of Plastic Arts Alba, the Guiñol Theater and the subsidiary of the Cuban School of Wushu.
The opening gala took place in front of the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Culture Center of the so-called Cuban city of the parks, with the performance of popular artists from the territory and Cuban singer-songwriter Waldo Mendoza.

The Holguín Culture Week in its 38th edition is dedicated to the professor, historian and researcher José Novoa Betancourt, to the musician and arranger Gastón Howard Allen and to the director José Ramón Artigas, whose trajectories provide prestige to the culture in Holguín.
The event will pay homage to the 25 years of the Office of Historic Sites and Monuments, the 200 anniversary of the foundation of the town of San Andrés and the 300th Anniversary of the town of Holguín, the latter to be celebrated in April of this year.

The agenda also includes the delivery of the City Awards in the different categories, the National Event of Studies on Wars of Independence, a series of tributes to illustrious children, concerts, exhibitions and film screening.
