Renowned Japanese artist Yoko Ono, one of the most remarkable and famous exponents of contemporary plastic arts, is interested in exhibiting part of her work in Cuba, said the art critic and curator Jorge Fernandez, Director of the Cuba´s National Fine Arts Museum.
'Yoko Ono wants to come to Cuba, she is very enthusiastic about the idea of setting up an exhibition here,' the specialist said in a press conference held at the center he runs following the exhibition by Kosovan artist Sislej Xhafa.
However, no details were disclosed about a possible negotiation between the representatives of the Japanese artist and the Cuban side that could confirm and locate in time and space an exhibition of her works in the Caribbean island.
The surname Ono is no stranger to the Cuban world of fine arts as in 2003, Yoko's sister, Yetsuko, exhibited several of her sculptures as part of a personal exhibition included in the 8th Biennial of Havana.
Yoko Ono is one of the most controversial figures in contemporary art by her work and social behavior, closely linked to activism in favor of causes such as women vindication and the struggle for world peace.
The 85-year-old artist also developed a remarkable career in music, where she achieved notoriety with her second husband, British singer, arranger and composer John Lennon, member of the legendary band The Beatles.
She has also ventured into literature and cinema with dozens of titles in both fields.  / ACN
